A Profile of the Rockwell Falls Music Ministry Our choir members are the music leaders here at Rockwell Falls Presbyterian. There are between 18 and 25 of us - plus some horn players and guitarists and percussionists from time to time. We are mostly amateurs, but most read music and those who don't are great listeners and quick studies! A few of us have had some experience in working on a professional level with bands in the field of Country Music, so we have a leaning towards Southern Gospel Quartet stye muisic. This has not stopped us from performing some chorales from The Messiah and many contemporary "Pop" style songs, but our true love is Southern Gospel. We have several duos, trios and quartets that augment our services from time to time. Our Director is our resident organist and also our pedal steel guitarist when needed. Our Music Ministry has developed to the point where we can reach beyond our own church and into the surrounding communities. Rockwell Falls Presbyterian is headquarters for our local community choir also. The Community Choir numbers around 40 and we do concerts at Christmas and at Pentecost. If you've seen the Gaither Homecoming videos, then you have an idea what we do! Our gospel quartet - "The Joyful Noise" - are a great addition to the music here at RFPC. They sing some a cappella pieces as well as some great old quartet songs. We are joined by a new group - the "Downriver Praise Band". The praise band hosts a praise service on the last Sunday of each month at 6 pm in our sanctuary, and provides leadership for the contemporary songs at our regular worship services! We will sing for weddings, funerals, baptisms and all services. We also sing for fun and always for Jesus! We help to support our ministry by selling tapes and CDs. There are plenty on hand, so don't hesitate to email us regarding them! God Bless and keep your lamps trimmed! Randy Rollman,Organist and Music Director mailto:randyrollman@rockwellfalls.org |

Seems like years since we updated this page! About four, to be exact. Too much to
do and very little time - same excuse as everybody else. Here are some new pictures!
Also want to say before I run out of room: The Praise weekend (October
6 & 7) went really well! Some great friends from some of the other local churches
came an formed prayer teams while the music and testimony went on. Thanks
to all who participated musically and with other ministries. There are a great
many local folks who never seem to get the credit they deserve and I can't name
any of them for fear of forgetting somebody! Come to our Prayer & Praise services
and meet these prayer warriors for yourself. They are ready to spend some
time with you and they really will make a difference in your life! P.S. : I shrunk the choir picture - the basses needed to lose a little weight! |
People who share the same focus will always sing in unison. Individuals become a family by having something in common. In the case of human relation, it is the blood flowing through their veins that binds them together. In the case of the Family of God, however, the binding is accomplished by the blood flowing out of ther veins of Christ. A person may be drawn to participating in a choir by a love of singing - but it is that man or woman's love for Christ that will keep the song in their heart. How do we sing in unison? Singing in unison, as we use it here, does not mean everyone singing the same note, but tthat we all agree on three important points - illustrated by psalm 148. 1. Who is to sing After itemizing every created thing, including the sun and moon, fire and hail, snow and clouds, the Psalmist concludes his list with: ..kings of the earth and all nations, you princes and all rulers of the earth, young men and maidens, old men and children. Psalm 148:11-12 Who is to sing? No-one is excepted; every person on earth is to be praising the Lord! 2. To Whom do we sing The second point is answered by the first three words of the psalm: "Praise The Lord!" Can we emphasize that too much, or too often? In this world of mind-numbing distractions and false truth, can we hear too many reminders that it is the Lord who is to be the sole object of our praise and worship? When the choir members arrive for practise, when they troop in on a Sunday morning, when musicals are staged and rehearsed and performed - the desire of every heart should be for the Lord. Every intent, the focus of every thought should be on the Lord. 3. Why Do We Sing Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven. 148:13 nkjv Why? Because only the Lord's name is exalted - literally, "set on high"; it is only His glory that stands above earth and heaven. With one voice. We build unity and strength by joining our voices as one, in praise of the One, the mighty God of heaven, the only one worthy of our praise. In Unison. "The trumpeters and singers joined in unison, as with one voice, to give praise and thanks to the Lord." 2 Chronicles 5:13 from David S. Lampel |
